Proud to be Asian Summer Series

We are proud to present a weekly series of book readings and activities led by AAPI teen leaders, who work to foster awareness, pride and confidence among our youth of Asian descent. Each week will focus on a different theme.

  • July 5 - Listening (Read Henry and the Kite Dragon and make your own kite!)

  • July 12 - Melanin (Read We're Different, We're the Same and make your own puppet!)

  • July 19 - Imagination (Read My Footprints and experience Sensory Yoga!)

  • July26 - Discrimination (Read The Proudest Blue and come dressed in your cultural attire for a show and tell activity!)

  • August 2 - CANCELED due to scheduling conflicts. See you on the 9th!

  • August 9 - Family (Read Cora Cooks Pancit and make your favorite foods with homemade play dough!)

The Proud to be Asian summer series welcomes all children ages 4 to 7. Each workshop will run from 10 AM to 11 AM at the bookstore. Caregivers are welcome to bring coffee and browse the store. We’ll have light refreshments for the kids. All workshops are free of charge, though registration is required for planning purposes. Note: Book selection is subject to change.
