About Spencer
Spencer Smith, bass-baritone, sang at New York City Opera and the Metropolitan Opera for 28 years. He also sang with regional opera companies, where he performed Papageno (Magic Flute), the Count (La Pericole), Mercurio (Romeo and Juliet) and other roles. Spencer was a member of Spotlite on Opera and sang over 2,000 performances introducing opera to students in the tri-state area.
After a professional opera career, Spencer taught and conducted at Ardsley High School where he took his Select Chorus on tour to sing in such venues such as the Vatican, Norte Dame (Paris and Montreal), Salsburg Cathedral, Madison Square garden and an annual concert at St. Patrick’s. Spencer is thrilled to sing a concert of “Love Songs” at The Hudson Valley Books for Humanity.
