Ossining resident Fawzia and her collaborators will perform music from Pakistan and India mixed with American blues/jazz/pop overlays for a fun evening of musical fusion that’s neither this nor that, and a bit of both.

About the Musicians:
Jared Pauley is a keyboardist, composer, producer and educator based out of New York City. He has performed and/or recorded with trumpeter Arturo Sandoval (Dizzy Gillespie, Irakere), drummer Mike Clark (Herbie Hancock, The Headhunters, Eddie Henderson), trumpeter Duane Eubanks (Dave Holland), bassist Leon Lee Dorsey (Freddie Hubbard, Lionel Hampton) guitarist Robb Cappelletto (Re.Verse), drummer Daru Jones (Jack White, Black Milk), vibraphonist Eldad Tarmu and many others.
Nasir Naqvi is a psychiatrist and neuroscientist with a love for music and improvisation. A multi-instrumentalist who plays flute, percussion and bass guitar, Nasir comes from a family tradition extending from Shia marsias and the Bombay Talkies to Dawn of Midi. He’s sat in on a bunch of gigs over the years but has never really been in a band, until now.
Fawzia Afzal-Khan is a University Distinguished Scholar and Professor of English at Montclair State University, who has commuted to campus for over 35 years from her home in Ossining! When not on the road or spending time with her grandkids, she loves to make music. She trained in her native Pakistan in North Indo Pakistani classical vocal music all through her teens, winning national music competitions before coming to America. She has continued to pursue her first love as much as possible and made a short film funded by the National Endowment of the Humanities honoring Pakistani women singers, followed by a scholarly monograph on the same topic, called Siren Song: Understanding Pakistan through its Women Singers, published by Oxford University Press in 2020. She is delighted to perform at this venue in her hometown.
