Come hear Fawzia Afzal-Khan (author, educator, activist, musician) in conversation with Raza Ahmad Rumi, as she shares her recent experiences traveling in the north of Pakistan. She’ll share stunning images and footage from the region while reflecting on identity, culture, socio-political upheaval, and how it is possible to navigate the world embodying multiple truths.
Fawzia has been blogging about this topic for years. She’s recently published an e-book - Traveling Feminista, A Modern Muslin Woman Travels Through the World - and will bring a limited number of printed copies to sell and and sign.

About Raza
Raza Ahmad Rumi is a writer, public policy specialist, editor and instructor. He is the Director at Park Center for Independent Media, Ithaca College and lecturer, Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy. He is also the editor of The Friday Times and NayaDaur Media.
About Fawzia
Fawzia Afzal-Khan is University Distinguished Scholar and Professor of English at Montclair State University, who has commuted to campus for over 35 years from her home in Ossining! Afzal-Khan received her BA from Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore, Pakistan, and her MA and PhD in English Literature from Tufts University.
Fawzia is a cultural materialist who works at the intersection of Feminist Theory, Cultural and Performance Studies, and Postcolonial Studies. She created and teaches the first course on writings by and about Muslim Women at MSU, as well as an Honors course in Muslim Pop Culture, and has published extensively on this topic. Fawzia is also a trained vocalist in the North Indian Classical tradition. Fawzia received a Fulbright Specialist fellowship AY 2015-2020, to lecture at various universities in Pakistan. She has also served as Visiting Professor of the Arts at NYU in Abu Dhabi.
