A Very Special Author Event
Meet Lisa Ko, author of Memory Piece (March 2024, Penguin Random House) and of the highly acclaimed 2017 novel The Leavers. Memory Piece offers a gripping exploration of friendship, art, and ambition that reflects the complex dynamics of American culture while asking compelling questions about our future. It’s an innovative and audacious story of three lifelong friends as they strive to build satisfying lives in a world that turns out to be radically different from the one they were promised.
Lisa will be joined in conversation by Hudson Valley writer Jimin Han, author of The Apology. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome both Lisa and Jimin to our humble stage.

About Lisa Ko
Lisa is the author of The Leavers, which was a 2017 National Book Award forFiction finalist, won the 2016 PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction,and was a finalist for the 2018 PEN/Hemingway Award. The Leavers was a nationalbestseller and was named a best book of the year by NPR, Entertainment Weekly,BuzzFeed, the Los Angeles Times, and others. Ko’s short fiction has appeared in BestAmerican Short Stories and her essays and nonfiction have been published in The NewYork Times, The Believer, and elsewhere.
About Jimin Han
Jimin is the author of The Apology, a 2023 Barnes and Noble Discover Pick; a best audiobook by Booklist; and a best book of the summer by the LA Times, Vanity Fair, Shondaland, Apple Books and more. She is also the author of A Small Revolution and has written for American Public Media's Weekend America and Poets & Writers, among other media outlets. She teaches at the Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College, Pace University, and community writing centers. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she grew up in Providence, Rhode Island; Dayton, Ohio; and Jamestown, New York. Her work has been supported by the New York State Council on the Arts. The Apology paperback is available May 7, 2024.
