Celebrate Claire Hilbert and the Launch of Jump Rope Girl

Join us to celebrate Claire and her new book!

Some say her debut novel, Jump Rope Girl, which reached the #1 spot on digital bookstands shortly following its release, deserves a place on any bookshelf.  We completely agree.

Come hear about a pivotal year in the life of its young protagonist, Frannie, who recounts her story as an older teen.  Ooh-la-la, feel her sadness as friends get left behind, and follow her journey towards self-discovery and daring to dream.

Claire Hilbert will be in conversation with friends, neighbors and creative supporters Elinore O’Connell and Adam Auslander, and will read passages from her book and entertain audience Q&A. Light snacks will be available, as will beverages (for purchase).

Copies of Jump Rope Girl will be available for purchase and signing at the event.

This event is free to attend, but we strongly recommend registering in advance for planning purposes. Thank you!

About Claire

Intermixing just-so words with occasionally outrageous concepts, creating imaginative stories and uncovering truths … these are a few favorite pastimes of YA novelist Claire Hilbert, who had early dreams of reporting from around the world as a Foreign Correspondent.  She’s a dog person who instead has two cats because sometimes life has other plans.  Claire lives in New York’s Hudson Valley with her husband, two sons, and two felines.

"I don't want to leave my friends," that's young Frannie's whole point. Fair enough, except that in practically as many years as Frannie is old, her family has moved. It only gets harder over time. Moving is taking a toll on her family, who can't agree when she and her brother Nick decide getting a new dog will ease their pain. Joining the jump rope crowd seems enticing, but that's not so easy. There's solace in her pursuit of all things French, but that seems to go only so far, or does it? Making friends here and there is not the problem, but feeling comfortable where she is proves tricky.

Roadblocks abound on her hoped-for path to newfound acceptance and tranquility. Can Frannie withstand possibly losing everything? What would it take for her cherished dream to become real? Sometimes a surprise is the best clincher.
