What does it take to make a perfect family meal? Let’s not forget to Pass the Baby!
What does it take to make a perfect family meal? Is it the forks, spoons, plates, and napkins? Maybe it’s sister’s lemonade, Papi’s guacamole, or delicious meatballs and ravioli eyed by a hungry pup. When it’s time to sit down and dig in, there’s one thing everybody agrees they need to do, “Baby, baby, pass the baby!”
Join us for the launch of this newest book by award-winning author Susanna Reich. She’ll be joined on stage by her best-selling illustrator Raul Colón. Together, they’ll read the book, talk about the process of publishing children’s books, and take questions from the audience.
This event is free and open to all. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Please RSVP here for planning purposes.
About the Book
A diverse family enjoys an uproarious meal in Pass the Baby, written by award- winning author Susanna Reich of Briarcliff Manor and illustrated by New York Times bestselling artist Raúl Colón of New City (Neal Porter Books, October). In this rollicking, rhyming picture book, an adorable baby, a helpful big brother, and a large extended family sit down for a delicious dinner. But what happens when Baby’s excitement leads to juice on the floor, banana on the door, and a sugar bowl upside down on dolly’s head? Everyone agrees—it’s time to “Pass the baby!”
“Utterly adorable and inarguably entrancing, this is a rhythmic little wonder just begging to be said aloud.” – Betsy Bird, A Fuse #8 Production, School Library Journal
“A sweet reminder to siblings big and small that they are all important members of the family.” - Kirkus Reviews
Pass the Baby is Reich’s first fictional picture book after twenty-four years as a published children’s book author. “Contrary to popular belief, picture books are very hard to write,” she says. “You have to be able to think like a child. And every word counts.” Reich and Colón previously collaborated on José! Born to Dance, for which they received the Tomás Rivera Mexican American Children’s Book Award. Suitable for ages 4-8.
