Battlefield Cyber: How China and Russia are Undermining Our Democracy and National Security

Do you ever wonder about the integrity of our nation’s IT systems - those that fuel our workplaces, educational institutions, and governmental agencies? Have you ever considered that we may be engaged in cyber warfare with our global peers?

Authors Michael G. McLaughlin and William J. Holstein have sounded the alarm with their new book, Battlefield Cyber: How China and Russia are Undermining Our Democracy and National Security. They will join us - William in person and Michael virtually(!) - to discuss the way social media and the internet threaten to destabilize our democracy and the very future of our nation.

This event is free of charge; we ask you to RSVP in advance for planning purposes. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

About the Authors

Holstein was based in Hong Kong and Beijing for United Press International and has been following U.S.-Chinese relations for more than 40 years. He has written or worked for BusinessWeek, U.S. News & World Report, The New York Times, and Fortune, among other top publications. His nine previous books include The New Art of War: China’s Deep Strategy Inside the United States.

McLaughlin served as a Naval Intelligence Officer in postings around the world before becoming senior counterintelligence adviser for U.S. Cyber Command. He left active duty in 2022 and is now an attorney in Washington, D.C. where he concentrates on cybersecurity, government contracting, and national security law.
