A Closer Look at Saris: An Iconic Mainstay of Indian Fashion

Join us for a fun and informative presentation on the classic Indian fashion: the Sari.

Children’s author Jyoti Rajan Gopal will share the history and cultural significance of the sari, followed by a reading of her newest book (My Paati’s Saris) a sari demonstration, and a book signing. Attendees will have the chance to be draped in a sari!

Jyoti Raja Gopal is a writer, teacher, and mom. She is the author of several picture books: American Desi, My Paati’s Saris, Desert Queen, and several more coming out over the next three years. Growing up, Jyoti livedi n Thailand, Indonesisa, Myanmar, India, and China. She now lives in a quirky old Victorian in Yonkers, NY.

In this tale of expressing your true self, My Paati’s Saris shares the story of a Tamil boy who explores his love for his grandmother and her colorful sari collection.
