Meet Greg Allen, author of The Monsters of Marymount Mansion

Are you ready for this adorable tale with monstrous appeal?

Meet Toby, a young monster who has skin like a fish, fur like a dog, and smells like cotton candy when he gets excited. He lives with his family in the basement of Marymount Mansion and once a year ventures out into the real world when everyone is dressed for Halloween. Toby becomes frustrated with hiding below ground and sets off on an all-important quest.  

Author Greg Allen will share highlights of his newest book, The Monsters of Marymount Mansion, and will be joined on stage by Kim Gilligan for audience questions and conversation. Kids (elementary school age) and adults are welcome. A great way to stretch the Halloween spirit!

About Gregory Allen

Gregory G. Allen is an award-winning author, screenwriter, filmmaker and actor. He has been in the entertainment industry for 35 years having acted in plays, musicals, TV, film and national tours such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. He is the award-winning author of four children's books, four adult novels, one nonfiction memoir, and two short stories. His book Chicken Boy the Amazing Adventures of a Superhero with Autism was the MeeGenius People's Choice Award grand prize winner in 2012 and along with the sequel was acquired by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. In 2016, he wrote a picture book based on a squirrel that got into the Town Hall Theater in Irvington, NY. Gregory is a member of The Dramatist Guild, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and a former member of the BMI Musical Theater Workshop. He has spent over 15 years in arts management and has served as the Theater Manager for the past nine at Irvington Theater in Irvington, NY.

About Kim Gilligan

Kim Gilligan is a long time Irvington, NY resident and the chairperson for the Irvington Theater commission. Kim has been in the arts for over 30 years having been a professional stage manager on national tours in the 90s. She has served in many capacities at Irvington Theater from overseeing and curating the "In Our Own Words" series (which brings issues of social justice center stage through art and conversation) as well as serving yearly on the Arts Incubator committee for their Short Play Fest.
